Bleckmann UK are a logistics company with 2 sites in Lutterworth. They have a mixture of office-based and warehouse staff, totalling around 295 permanent staff in total. They were early adopters of the Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire programme and started working with us to make sustainable and effective changes to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff in early 2023.
Approach
Jan '23 – Feb '23
Bleckmann UK rolled out our Workplace Health Needs Assessment (WHNA) in early February. The WHNA was promoted to all staff prior to opening for responses via email, team meetings, and posters. Around 65% of staff completed the WHNA.
A member of the Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire team met with their HR business partner, Nicola McCluskey, to review their results report. Discussions covered all the results, but particular attention was paid to the areas that required the most improvement. This meant they were able to best target their resources and make the biggest impact.
From the WHNA, it was decided that the wellbeing areas requiring most improvement were:
- Financial Wellbeing
- Mental Wellbeing
- Trauma and Domestic Abuse

Bleckmann UK enrolled on the Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire Accreditation programme. A member of the Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire team once again met with their HR Business Partner to collaboratively agree the goals and targets that would take them from "Engaged" to the "Committed" stage of our accreditation.
During this meeting, bespoke goals and targets were collaboratively agreed that focussed on the three main wellbeing areas highlighted from the WHNA (see above). Examples of the goals and targets agreed included, but were not limited to:
- Financial wellbeing:
a) Promote the MoneyHelper tool to staff through numerous channels.
b) Promote the staff benefits available to employees through their PerkBox platform - Mental Wellbeing:
a) Train line managers in "Healthy Conversation Skills for Managers" to allow them to support the health and wellbeing of their staff.
b) Train, support and promote the existence of Mental Health First Aiders across their sites. - Trauma and Domestic Abuse
a) Create a Domestic Abuse Policy
Once these goals and targets were set, Bleckmann UK received their "Engaged" level accreditation. And were on their way to achieving their "Committed" level.
Apr '23 – Dec '23
Bleckmann UK used the results of their WHNA, and the goals and targets set from the Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire Accreditation, to create their financial health and wellbeing strategy.
During these months, they:
- Created new policies such as their first Domestic Abuse Policy
- Promoted the MoneyHelper website and other signposting services through their new canteen "table-talkers", design wall, and via team meetings and email updates.
- Brought local support services on-site, such as Turning Point, to talk to employees, managers and HR about the services that are on offer.
- Trained 10 new Mental Health First Aiders and upskilled some managers on "Healthy Conversation Skills".
Over these months, they uploaded evidence for their accreditation goals and targets and completed these in November 2023. This meant that they achieved their "Committed" badge. A member of our team then met again with them and goals and targets were made to go towards their "Empowered" stage badge.
